NIA to probe the Patna serial blasts

Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde on Wednesday said that the NIA will be probing the Patna serial blasts.

However he refused to comment on the meeting he had with Bihar CM Nitish Kumar but did say that Kumar had briefed him and gave him all the details regarding the bomb blasts.

Another suspect detained, prime suspect sent to three day custody

A serial blast suspect Arshad Ahmed was picked up for questioning in the Sunday's serial bomb blasts. Ahmad is said to be a close associate of the prime accused Imtiaz Ansari.

Meanwhile the main suspect, Imtiaz Ansari has been sent to three-day custody.

Three days after the serial blasts rocked Patna, Bihar CM finally met Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde.

Was Modi a target too?

According to a report on CNN-IBN, NIA sources said that Narendra Modi was also one of the targets in the Patna serial blasts. The code word used for Modi was 'Machli 5'.

Modi was in Patna to address a rally and 18 bombs were planted in and around the venue.

Were students used to plant bombs?

According to a report on CNN-IBN, students residing in hostels were apparently paid Rs 10,000 to plant the bombs in the venue. Reports suggest that 18 bombs were planted in the Gandhi Maidan to inflict maximum damage at Narendra Modi's rally.

NSG officials said that the main aim was to create a stampede, that would kill many women and children.Officials are still looking out for unexploded bombs around the area.

Bihar Police arrest third suspect

The third suspect in the Sunday's Patna blasts was arrested on Wednesday morning.

The suspect was picked up from Motihari in Bihar based on the leads provided by Imtiaz who is currently in police custody.

The suspect, Tabish was in constant touch with Imtiaz. Reports suggest that Tabish was also staying in Ranchi.

Bihar CM to meet Home Minister

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will be meeting Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde today in Delhi. Shinde was supposed to travel to Bihar on Tuesday but cancelled his trip since Kumar had other engagements. Both will meet and discuss the current situation post the Sunday's serial blasts in Patna.
