Jungle raj in Bihar: Deputy Mayor shot at in Arrah; critically injured
Patna, June 9: Arrah Deputy Mayor Basant Singh was critically injured on Thursday, June 9, after he was shot at by some unidentified mottorbike-borne people in Arrah.
According to report, the attack took place in Arrah town in broad daylight.
Singh was admitted to hospital in Patna and he is said to be out of danger.
Police said that "the attack took place when Basant Singh, was on his morning walk when some people shot at him from close range. Singh who runs a transport business with a fleet of over a dozen commercial vehicles, seems to be the result of business rivalry."
Sushil Kumar Modi, the state's former deputy chief minister criticised the Nitish Kumar government, saying it failed to maintain the law and order in the state.
Police are investigating the case.
