Bihar: 200 huts burnt, officials blame soaring temperature
Jehanabad/Patna (Bihar), April 22: Around 200 huts in Bihar's Jehannabad district caught fire and were burnt down on Thursday.
While it is not certain what caused the fire, officials say that intense heat in the area could be the reason for the blaze.
The huts were mostly may of hay and belonged to Dalit familes, reports suggest. Meanwhile, fire tenders that arrived on the spot were seen struggling to control the blaze.
Temparature in Jehanabad soared to 42 degrees Celsius on Thursday.
There have been several incidents of fire in the past in the state and officials blame the soaring temparatures for this.
On the other hand, an official investigation has been launched into this to ascertain the cause of the fire.
