Will react only after going through details: Centre on Tehelka fiasco

New Delhi, Nov 21: The Centre on Thursday decided to treat the issue cinvolcing Tehelka Editor Tarun Tejpal cautiously, saying it is a sensitive issue and a reaction could be given only after assessing all details. Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari told reporters in Goa that they were watching the issue on television and would react only after going through the details.

The NCW said it would probe the matter if it came before it

The National Commission for Women (NCW), meanwhile, said it would probe the matter if it is brought before it. NCW chairperson Mamta Sharma said they would ensure to get the guilty punished following a trial in the court. She said Tejpal could not decide on his own punishment.

Former police officer and civil society activist Kiran Bedi said it was an extremely erroneous act.
