New Delhi, Aug 9: Days after Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi stormed into the Well of the Lok Sabha demanding an inquiry into the communal riots in UP, Rahul on Saturday said that 'communal riots in UP were artificially engineered.'

After raising a storm in the Parliament earlier this week, Rahul said that the communal incidents in UP were a part of a delibrate strategy to divide the poor. Congress leader Digvijay Singh came out in support of Rahul Gandhi saying that the latter's assessment is spot on.

Meanwhile, BJP hit out at Rahul accussing the Congress party of 'being hand in glove with the Samajwadi Party.' BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that Rahul Gandhi must stop using his secularism formula.
