New Delhi, Nov 8: Rahul Gandhi, the "Youth Icon" of Congress who has been actively participating in rallies across the country, has been a part of several controversies as well.

In his bid to attract majority voters in the upcoming elections, he has been both critised and appreciated for this speeches in the rallies.

Moreover, the Election Commission, after examining his speeches made in Churu and Indore, had asked him to explain why action should not be initiated against him for prima facie violating the Model Code of Conduct.

"The Commission is prima facie of the view that your aforesaid speeches are violative of above-referred sub paras (1), (2) and (3) of Para 1 of the Model Code of Conduct for political parties and candidates," the EC notice served on him had said.

Union Minister Jairam Ramesh also suggested that Rahul Gandhi was focused more on the long term future of the party ignoring the immediate challenge of elections and about his probable performance in the Lok Sabha elections.

The comments were downplayed by the Congress but BJP latched on to it as an admission of defeat.
