New Delhi, Sept 12: The picture on Narendra Modi's anointment as the BJP's prime ministerial candidate looked much clearer after senior leader Sushma Swaraj reportedly cancelled her trip to Ambala on Friday. Sources said the BJP's parliamentary board meeting will take place on Friday afternoon, which suggests that LK Advani could be left a loner.

Advani and Swaraj were reluctant to agree to Modi's anointment as the PM candidate for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections before the upcoming assembly elections in five states due this year. Murli Manohar Joshi and Ananth Kumar more sitting on the fence.

Nitin Gadkari reached New Delhi late in the night to meet Rajnath Singh

Party president Rajnath Singh adopted the strategy of talking with leaders individually after Advani and Swaraj expressed their reservation on a decision on Modi's anointment. Swaraj reportedly cancelled her trip after meeting Ananth Kumar and former party chief Nitin Gadkari reached the national capital on Thursday night to meet Rajnath Singh at Singh's residence late in the night. Latest reports said he met Advani ahead of his meeting with the party president.

The RSS, meanwhile, asked Rajnath to go ahead with Modi's anointment.
