Sonia accepts defeat, Rahul vows to change Congress

Sonia, Rahul speak after poll debacle
New Delhi, Dec 8: Congress president Sonia Gandhi and vice-president Rahul Gandhi spoke to reporters here on Sunday after the party faced humiliating losses in the recently concluded four assembly polls. The former accepted the defeat in "all humility" and said the losses required deep introspection.

She congratulated the opponents over the victories and also thanked the Congress supporters for putting a lot of efforts into the campaigning of the recent polls. She admitted that the people were not happy and issues like price rise had a role to play. She said the decision on the prime ministerial candidate would be taken at the "opportune time".

Rahul Gandhi said the verdict was a strong message from the people of the country and said that they have taken note of it from their heart. He vowed to bring change in the Congress and said that the common people would be involved in the organisation. He said the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had engaged more people than many other traditional parties. He said the Congress would take its own way to implement its ideas and not follow what others are doing.
