Kher, known for his soulful voice and a touch of folk in his music approached the AAP via mail.
In his mail he said that ‘this is my sincere and humble contribution to the party to make your mission pure in the form of a song.' He also said that the party could make use of the songs in whichever way they wanted in order to maximize their election campaign.
This is not the first time that Kher has been associated with politics. His earlier brush with politics include, a song in context to the Bharat Nirman advertisements, showcasing the achievements of the Congress-led UPA government.
He had also supported activist Anna Hazare during the Jan Lokpal days.
Kailash Kher has recorded two songs for the AAP
Praising the AAP he said that the AAP was a ‘movement' that empowered that ‘aam aadmi'. Explaining his support to the AAP he said that the common man has been reduced to a joke. This party has brought back the power and the importance of the common man into politics, he said.
Through his songs he says, he wants the people to come out of the closet and think. He said that he doesn't expect a miracle to take place but wanted to contribute in a small way.
