According to the official statement issued by Mr Tharoor's aide, the minister initially thought that Sunanda was taking rest in her hotel room. However, later he got suspicious and alerted his close associates.
Soon after Delhi Police were informed and after medical examination Sunanda was declared dead. A tweet from Mrs Tharoor's Twitter account at 8:01 pm said that he would not attend the Jaipur Literature Festival because his wife was unwell. Sunanda was found dead around 8:30 pm.

According to police sources, no external injuries were found on Sunanda's body and they also informed that it could be a case of suicide. However, no suicide note has been found so far.
She along with her husband had checked in to Leela Palace Hotel in Delhi on Thursday.
