Rajnath races against time to bring BJP together on Modi's anointment

New Delhi, Sept 12: The consensus over declaring Narendra Modi as the prime ministerial candidate looks elusive with senior party leaders LK Advani and Sushma Swaraj not ready to accept Modi's anointment at the moment. They want the declaration to come after the assembly elections due in a few months.

According to sources, BJP president Rajnath Singh was having a hectic time to bring all members of the parliamentary board meeting together and was even ensuring that the meeting did not see a showdown. He convened a meeting late on Thursday night to carry on with the consensus building. Leaders like Ananth Kumar and Ram Lal were also trying in the consensus-building process.

Sushma Swaraj and MM Joshi are likely to go out of Delhi on Friday, sources said

Meanwhile, sources also put that Swaraj and MM Joshi are likely to move out of the national capital on Friday.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said he would abide by the party's decision.

All eyes will be on how the party manages the issue and go ahead with Modi's PM candidature.
