Railway Budget 2015: Will Suresh Prabhu's budget give wings to PM Modi's dreams?

New Delhi, Feb 26: Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu is likely to stress cleanliness factor in trains and may provide dustbins in all coaches besides including 100 more trains under On Board Housekeeping Services. [Follow Live Updates: Railway Budget 2015]

Under the Clean Train Station Scheme, bio-toilets and stations will be included. This will be in line with Prime Minister Modi's Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. [5 expectations from Suresh Prabhu]

Prabhu might also announce the high-speed train project between Mumbai and Ahmedabad and survey programmes for the proposed diamond quadrilateral route. Twenty sets of trains could also be procured for operating on the Rajdhani and Shatabdi routes in this budget. Bullet trains have been one of the priority areas of the NDA government. The railway minister may also unravel plans for manufacturing coaches that can run at 200-km per hour at Chennai to cater to the prime minister's Make In India initiative.

The minister may also added redevelopment of stations, building shopping complexes and commercial projects in empty spaces. He may also propose manufacturing of locomotive parts as part of Make in India campaign.
