On Wednesday, Gandhi met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the controversial ordinance to shield convicted politicians which he had termed 'nonsense' at an impromptu press conference on September 27. A massive controversy broke out over Gandhi's outburst with the opposition accusing of insulting the prime minister and the entire nation. Gandhi later said that his intention was not to embarrass the PM and he only reflected the opinion of the people.
