New Delhi, Oct 2: President Pranab Mukherjee payed homage to former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on the occasion of his 109th Birth Anniversary at Vijay Ghat in New Delhi.

October 2 - Mahatma Gandhi's birthday is shared by another prominent leader of our country - Lal Bahadur Shastri - the second Prime Minister of our country.

Lal Bhadur Shastri was not only the country's prime minister but also the man behind the revolution of the agricultural sector in India.

A loyal follower of Gandhi and Nehru, Shastri is known for his slogan "Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan" during the 22-day Indo-Pak war of 1985, where he led India to victory.
