New Delhi, Sept 13: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has moved a step ahead of Congress in the race of Lok Sabha election which is expected to be held in 2014. While Congress has not cleared the air over its decision on PM candidate, BJP on Friday, Sept 13 made the crucial announcement.
As it was predicted earlier, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has been declared prime ministerial candidate for BJP. Despite veteran party leader LK Advani's reservation on the announcement, Rajnath Singh conducted the parliamentary board meeting at the party headquarter in the national capital.
Soon after the announcement, Modi said, "Today the BJP's national leadership has given a very big responsibility to some who has come from a very common family."
"I want to thank every small and big leader in the party and express my gratitude to them. I would like to assure them that in the 2014 elections I will not leave any stone unturned to ensure the BJP's victory in 2014," Modi said.
"I hope that they will support the BJP to help us get the country from this period," added Modi. Continuing his statement, the Gujarat CM claimed that he was confident that the entire nation would support BJP during Lok Sabha elections.
"I am very thankful to the media as well for expressing your valuable views that have helped in with the growth of the BJP," he said.
