He went on to add: "The sun has never discriminated against anyone. The intelligence of those opposed to surya namaskar is laughable."
He said that those who do not follow surya namaskar 'live in a dark room.'
Meanwhile, the Congress lashed out at Adityanath and said that yoga can't be made compulsory for everyone.
This comes a day after the Muslim Law Board opposed implementation of yoga and surya namaskaar in schools saying that 'surya namaskar was against the teachings of Islam [Yoga, surya namaskaar against the teachings of Islam: Muslim Board]
The decision comes after the Modi government decided to observe International Yoga Day on June 21.
This is however not the first time that Yogi Adityanath is courting controversy. Earlier he was embroiled in a controversy relating to 'ghar-wapsi.' He once even said that Samajwadi Party minister Azam Khan should be sent to Pakistan.
