Party leaders back Rahul Gandhi's opinion on the Ordinance
General Secretary of All Indian Congress Committee Digvijay Singh praised Gandhi and tweeted that "Rahulji punctures the Balloon of BJP's double speak. It had agreed to the amendments in the All Party Meeting which are part of the ordinance."
Member of Indian National Congress Jyotiraditya Scindia also showed his support and said that 'Rahul Gandhi's decision on the ordinance is the party's decision.'
Minister of State for Human Resource and Development Shashi Tharoor too joined Rahul Gandhi and tweeted 'But now that my party VP has broken ranks, I'm delighted. I'd declined numerous invitations to defend the Ordinance. Let me say RG is right.'
Joining the Rahul brigade was Minister of State for Planning and Parlimentary affairs, Rajeev Shukla, who said: "We will support whatever Rahul Gandhi has said on ordinance to protect convicted netas."

While this move of Gandhi, where he thrashed his own government and party, was appreciated by many, there were some who called it a political gimmick. Senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley said that 'if this is nonsense, then the heads that brought it out must roll.'
BJP Vice President Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi too took a dig at Rahul and said "Is this a government or a theatrical production."
Rahul Gandhi, on Friday had said that the ordinance, that was cleared by the cabinet was nonsense. "It must be torn up and thrown out," he said at an impromptu press conference, thereby raising many eyebrows.
