OROP: Veterans plan mega rally on Sept 12
New delhi, Sept 4: There army veterans have decided to intensify their protest. A mega rally will be held on September 12 to protest over the one rank one pension.
issue. The protest rally demanding the early implementation of OROP and also seeking the government to fulfil all their demands will be held in New Delhi.
The decision to intensify the protest comes despite the government assuring that OROP will be announced in the next 48 hours. The RSS at the coordination meeting with the BJP also raised this issue.
The RSS said that the OROP issue must be resolved immediately as it is hurting the image of the government.
The government has already readied a draft agreement on OROP. After consulting with the President of India the announcement would be made the government had decided.
However, the draft agreement states that the equalisation of pension would be done in five years. The veterans however, has said that it either be done yearly or on a two year basis.
