Omar Abdullah comes out in support of Smriti Irani
Maken had on Tuesday questioned the education qualifications of Irani and tweeted that 'Irani who was heading the HRD ministry was not even a graduate.'
Following this, the BJP as well as other politicians criticised Maken for his statement. Abdullah too criticised the comment and tweeted-
To
say
that
someone
needs
to
be
educated
to
be
HRD
Min
is
like
saying
one
needs
to
be
a
pilot
for
Civil
Aviation
or
a
miner
for
Coal
Min.

Meanwhile the BJP condemned the statement and said that 'it was unfortunate if such things are spoken about her.' Smriti Irani however has not yet commented on the issue.
BJP said that Narendra Modi has kept Irani's capabilities in mind and then appointed her as the HRD Minister.
Irani is the youngest in Narendra Modi's Council of Ministers and will be heading the HRD ministry that deals with the education sector.
