Nirbhaya: Situation hasn't changed in 1 year, says Meira Kumar
The 23-year-old woman, who was brutally assaulted by six men in a moving bus on the night of December 16 last year while she was returning home with a male companion, succumbed to her injuries 13 days later, in a Singapore hospital.
Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde said that the people in general are more aware now about such crimes.
A massive protest had rocked the nation in the wake of the horrific incident and the government was forced to amend laws.

Of the six accused, one was found dead inside the jail while another was tried under the juvenile law. The rest of the four were convicted and given death sentence on September 13 this year.
