Action against the channel was initiated after the inter-ministerial committee observed that NDTV India had violated rule 6(1)(p) of the cable television networks (regulation) act. The committee had recommended that the channel be banned for a day for dispersing sensitive information during reportage of Pathankot attack in January earlier this year.
