Sonia Gandhi pushes for Women's Reservation Bill on Rajiv Gandhi's 70th birth anniversary
Remembering Rajiv Gandhi's ideals, Sonia said that women empowerment was very close to Rajiv Gandhi's heart. "His vision is the establishment of National Commission for Women," she said.
Giving a push for the passage of Women's Reservation Bill, Sonia said that 'Rajiv Gandhi always wanted 33 per cent of reservation for women in Parliament and Assembly.'
Rajiv Gandhi was the youngest Prime Minister and served as the PM from 1984 to 1989 after the assassination of his mother Indira Gandhi. Gandhi was assassinated on May 21, 1991 in a village in Chennai, Tamil Nadu where he was addressing a gathering.
Sonia along with her son Rahul visited Veer Bhoomi earlier today to pay homage to Rajiv Gandhi. Meanwhile many politicians took to Twitter to pay their homeages-
