New Delhi, July 1: The Congress on Tuesday attacked the NDA government over "rising" prices of essential commodities and accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of "misguiding" people during the Lok Sabha polls campaign by claiming that he would "solve all the problems" if voted to power.

"Modi misguided people of the country by claiming that all problems will be resolved," Congress general secretary Shakeel Ahmed told reporters here.

Modi misguided people by promising all problems will be solved, Shakeel said

"Prices of petrol, diesel, gas cylinder have gone up and there has been a hike in train fares after Modi became prime minister. Not even a single commodity has become cheaper," he said.

His comments came a day after the petrol price was hiked by Rs 1.69 per litre and diesel by 50 paise a litre.

He took potshots at Modi saying that after becoming the Prime Minister he had gone "silent."

"Modi has gone silent now and it appears his speech too had become costlier," Ahmed said.

He claimed that since NDA came to power, about seven incursions have been made by China into the Indian territory. Besides, China is also showing Arunachal Pradesh and areas of Kashmir as its part in its official map, he said.

Besides, Pakistan has also violated ceasefire thrice, he said.

"During the UPA regime, Modi used to claim that weakness is not at borders, but in those sitting in power corridors in Delhi. Now after the change of power and such events taking place, he (Modi) should repeat the same language," Ahmed said.

"It seems that Modi, who used to boast of so called 56 inch chest has reduced to just 5.6 inch in one month," the Congress leader said.

Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, who was also present at the occasion, alleged that the recent Lok Sabha polls were an election of "despair".

"People of the country did not vote for BJP, but for a particular person (Modi) who projected himself as if he had a magic wand to solve all problems of the country," he said.

He claimed that people do not expect relief from the first budget of the NDA, which will be presented this month.
