Modi effect: Ministries embrace Hindi, nominate officers to ensure cleanliness

Ministries embrace Hindi besides English
New Delhi, June 11: In a first, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) headed by Sushma Swaraj, issued a set of official papers in Hindi, besides English on Wednesday. The MEA also nominated nodal officers, who would look after the cleanliness in the offices of the ministries.

This comes to light after Prime Minister Narendra Modi issued guidelines to his ministers on maintianing a clean and tidy office. Meanwhile the MEA and other ministries too have warmed up to the idea of including Hindi while issuing circulars or notices.

The officials in the Department of Agriculture anf Food too have been directed to prepare notes in Hindi and English as well.

Officials who are not fluent in Hindi are now looking to brush up on their Hindi language skills.

Nodal officers have been appointed to oversee cleanliness

Meanwhile nodal officers have been asked to maintain cleaner office spaces and have also been asked to make sure that the premises have enough dustbins in order to keep the offices clean. They have also been asked to make sure that safety alarms are functional.

Including Hindi at every step in the Ministries was evident when the Ministers took oath in the Lok Sabha recently.

When the recently elected MPs took oath in Hindi, Sanskrit and other regional languages in the Lok Sabha, it was appreciated by many who said that it was a pleasant change to see ministers taking oath in their mother tongues.
