New Delhi, Feb 24: A livid BJP president Amit Shah has sought an explanation from the party's MLA from Alwar, Rajasthan, Gyandev Ahuja, over his bizarre remarks on the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) while criticising its students as "traitors".
On Monday, Ahuja while protesting over the JNU incident in his constituency, told reporters that among other things like cigarette butts, bidis and beer cans, 3,000 used condoms and 500 abortion injections are also found in the university campus everyday. He said the condoms are being used to harm "our sisters and daughters" and also alleged that boys and girls danced naked in events that are dubbed cultural.
According to sources, Shah has criticised the legislator and called him to the capital to explain his "irresponsible remarks".
Ahuja's remarks created a buzz on the social media with the hashtag #BJPCounts Condoms trending.
The 63-year-old MLA, who sports a grand moustache and is known for his participation in Ram Lila, aimed to expose 'anti-national' activities in the JNU but his act backfired, particularly at a time when the government at the Centre is facing accustions of trying to crush dissent.
