AAP to be auto drivers' messiah?
New Delhi, Jan 8: Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal's supporter base is sure to swell in the coming times. In a move to woo auto drivers, the Kejriwal government now wants the Delhi Police not to fine auto drivers, who refuse to carry passengers.

In the run up to the Delhi Assembly elections, the auto drivers in Delhi had played a major role in the election campaign of the AAP. The autos in Delhi had carried party posters of AAP during the election campaign.

Kejriwal met the transport deparment officials and said the Delhi government wants the Delhi police stripped off the power to fine the auto drivers for not ferrying passengers, for violating permit laws and hand over all these duties to the transport department.

Kejriwal said that all the aotu drivers had joined hands with the party in their fight against corruption. "We are committed to resolving their issue," he said.

But this move is bound to affect the commuters. However the transport department has said it does not have the manpower to handle such issues. The transport department said that this move could prove to be a huge inconvinience to commuters.
