Noida, March 12: A hailstorm hit the National Capital and adjacent Noida on Saturday morning, throwing the traffic out of gear. The hailstorm followed the heavy rain in the National Capital on Friday evening.

The city witnessed severe traffic jams following the hailstorm that started around 9 am and continued for about 20 minutes. There was also light rain on Saturday morning.
Sources in the Indian Meteorological Department said the city received just over 9 mm of rainfall by 8.30 am. The Met department also predicted more hailstorm, rain and thundershowers on Saturday afterniin.
The rain also initially disrupted the three-day World Culture Festival organised by the Art Of Living Foundation which started on Friday.
People at the event were seen running for shelters as the rain came in.
