AAP sting operation: Election Commission quashes AAP's claims

No clean chit to AAP in sting operation
New Delhi, Nov 27: Images of the sting operation continues to haunt the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) as the Election Commission on Wednesday rejected AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal's claims that the party was given a clean chit in the sting operation.

According to Election Commissioner HS Brahma the commission has not verified the veracity of the tape. He also added that unless the AAP challenges it legally, no clean chit can be given to it.

The party had earlier claimed that the EC had given a clean chit to the party and declared that the sting operation CD was doctored.

Kejriwal:EC has given a clean chit to AAP over sting operation

Brahma said, "The authenticity of the tapes cannot be established by them. AAP has to take that up legally, so no clean chit to AAP info,' he said.

In an interview to a news channel, Kejriwal had claimed that the EC had indeed found that the tape was doctored.

"The EC has given a clean chit to AAP over sting operation. The EC even said political parties and media channels should not engage in such conspiracies," he said.

The sting operation in question was carried out by news portal Media Sarkar. In the sting operation AAP candidates are seen taking donations without following any proper procedures. The AAP then cried foul and said that this was a conspiracy and even blamed rival parties like BJP and Congress for it.
