The EC will specifically keep a watchful eye on dummy candidates that are usually fielded by various political parties.
"Strict action will be taken against such dummy candidates who are non-serious in contesting polls but are put in the fray by candidates of political parties, in case they offer their facilities to other candidates after nomination," Special Chief Electoral Officer Shurbir Singh said.
Poll authorities say that during election time, candidates of major political parties field some dummy candidates in order to distribute their poll expenses. Such candidates utilize the vehicles and election agents for campaigning.
In order to prevent corruption, the EC has also said that permission for public rally would not be given to a particular candidate if they do not produce his accounts for inspection without valid reasons.
