DU opens up admissions for the year 2014
New Delhi, June 2: Finally the day has arrived. Students all across India and even abroad have been waiting for the Delhi University to open their gates for admission for the year 2014.

The admission process for 54,000 seats under Delhi University's four-year undergraduate programme started on Monday.

Students from all over India and even from abroad apply for admission in the Delhi University.

With students scoring high percentage in CBSE Class 12 examination this year, the university officials are speculating that cut-offs will soar.

A centralised form, with both online and offline options, would cost Rs 100 for general candidates and Rs 50 for SC/ST and OBC candidates.

St Stephen's and Jesus and Mary College will conduct their own admission. For applying in both the colleges, students have only the option of online form.

The university earlier launched an android-based mobile application called "DU UG admissions 2014-2015" from where students can fill their optical mark registration (OMR) forms and get information about the university.

The university has also conducted "open days" where parents and students were provided information on admission and their queries were answered.

While for the offline process there are 18 centres/colleges in north, south, east, west and central Delhi, where students can procure and submit their forms.

The last day for filling form is June 16 while the first cut-off list will be released June 24.

This year, there will also be "university observers" who will see that admission is carried out without any problem.

With most of the procedure remaining the same like with students only having choice of filling the course option, the university has removed the additional eligibility criteria that colleges used to impose on students.

The students, who have studied a lot of vocational subjects, can include them in their best four but they will have to lose 10 percent marks from the subject with highest marks.

The university has specifically advised the students to fill in the actual marks and leave the deduction and addition part with the colleges.

Besides the Bachelor of Management Studies, the entrance examination for all courses were canceled.
