Congress to announce candidate list for Delhi polls on Nov 8

New Delhi, Nov 6: According to reports, the Delhi

will announce its candidates for the Delhi assembly polls after a meeting of the Central Election Committee, which will be chaired by Congress President

on November 8.

A party official said that a meeting of the party's Central Election Committee which took place on October 28 had taken a decision that the names of the candidates will be announced after Diwali.

Reports suggest that there is a possibility that most of the party's sitting MLAs may be repeated except those against whom there are allegations.

Candidates facing criminal charges won't be considered for polls

The names of 30-odd candidates were finalized by the screening committee earlier.

The candidates will be chosen on criteria like, those who are facing serious criminal charge will not be considered in all the five assembly going states including Delhi.

On the other hand, those who have lost an assembly election by a margin of 10,000 votes will not be considered as well and those who lost municipal corporation polls by more than 2500 votes will also not be fielded.
