Congress releases poll manifesto, Rahul says public opinion taken

New Delhi, March 26: Launching the Congress party's poll manifesto (read here), Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi today said that 'BJP balloon will explode.'

Hitting out at the Opposition, Rahul said that the BJP had the ability to market itself. "BJP has the ability to market to itself like it did in 2009. Just like how the India Shinning balloon burst, even now it will explode," he said. He even said that 'Narendra Modi's ideologies would hurt the country.'

Answering a range of questions from the public and the media, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said that there won't be any corruption in the next government. Singh also took a dig at the BJP saying that BJP always thought that he would runaway.

Rahul said that the Congress party poll manifesto was different as the party reached out to the people and took their views and opinions and then framed the manifesto. Rahul said that the manifesto will reflect the aspirations of the people. "90 per cent of the promises in the 2009 manifesto have been fulfilled," he said.

Some of the points discussed in the manifesto are- women reservation, right to health, right to homestead, right to pension and others. The party also unveiled its slogan for the 2014 Lok Sabha election- 'Your Voice , Our Pledge.'

Speaking at the event, Congress President Sonia Gandhi said that the manifesto was sacred for the party. "Congress has always lived upto the expectations of the people. Political principles and promises in manifesto are not just for showing others abut also to live by," Sonia said.

On asking who would be the party's PM candidate, Sonia said that 'PM will be chosen by the Congress Parliamentary Party after the elections.' Sonia also defended party's decision to give Ashok Chavan Lok Sabha ticket saying that 'no law bars Chavan from contesting the elections.'

When Rahul was asked whether he resonated with PM's opinion on Narendra Modi as PM, Rahul said: "The prime minister is wise. I agree with the PM that Modi will be a disaster for India."
