New Delhi, Nov 6: Chhota Rajan who arrived in New Delhi early this morning will be in the custody of the Special Cell of the Delhi police until the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) completes formalities of taking over the cases against him. The Delhi police has six cases registered against him and is likely to question him in this regard.
Rajan was brought from Bali in a special aircraft (Indian Air Force Gulfstream-III aircraft) that landed around 5 AM today. He was whisked away by heavily armed security personnel to an undisclosed location. There were various officials too who were present at the time the aircraft landed.
The CBI is currently commencing the process of completing the formalities relating to Rajan. With the Maharashtra government deciding to transfer all cases against Rajan to the CBI, the agency is in the process of a formal take over.
Once these formalities are completed, Rajan will be formally arrested by the CBI. Until then he will remain in the custody of the Special Cell of the Delhi police. An officer in the Delhi police informed OneIndia that they will like their counterparts in Mumbai hand over all the cases they have registered against him to the CBI.
Security stepped upat CBI headquarters:
Meanwhile, security has been enhanced at the CBI’s headquarters in New Delhi. There are several alerts from the Intelligence Bureau which suggest that there would be a hit job carried out on Rajan.
The CBI headquarters resembles a fortress with four layer security being provided. There are commandos from the NSG, a layer comprising para military forces, plainclothes policemen and also a special unit of the police force guarding the CBI headquarters.
