Protests grow for Sinha's release
New Delhi, June 13: It has been 11 days ever since BJP leader Yashwant Sinha was arrested for assaulting an officer of the State Electricity Board and protesting against the poor power supply and corruption in Hazaribagh.

Protests continued as BJP workers demanded his release. A group of BJP leaders including Shanawaz Hussian and Rajiv Pratap Rudy met Sinha on Thursday at the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Central jail and requested him to obtain bail.

Sinha had refused to furnish a bail in this case and thus landed in the jail. "On behalf of Rajnath Singh we met Yashwant Sinha in jail and requested him to come out and participate in the next phase of statewide agitation beginning on June 16," Rudy said.

The protest would not only include electricity shortage but also focus on deteriorating law and order issue in Jharkhand, he added.

Jail authorities on the other hand said that Sinha was in good health and that they were monitoring his him. They also said that no VIP treatment was given to him.
