Harshvardhan hits out at Congress govt
New Delhi, Oct 28: BJP's chief ministerial candidate for Delhi, Dr Harshvardhan on Sunday said that the Delhi government was responsible for the rise in the onion and food prices.

He held the Sheila Dikshit government responsible saying that the government failed to act against hoarders in spite of the produce being good.

Harshvardhan said that the price rise is caused 99 per cent times due to hoarding while demand and supply was only one percent reason. "If BJP is voted to power, it will constitute a Food Prices Commission, which will be free from political and bureaucratic interference, directly under the chief minister to monitor mandis and to keep a check on the food prices," he said.

Harshvardhan: How many onion hoarders have been arrested

He alleged that Congress was conspiring with hoarders and was protecting them. "How many onion hoarders have been arrested in Delhi since the onion crisis began," he questioned.

He also blamed the Congress-led UPA government on inflation and said that Union Ministers say that it is the responsibility of the state to check prices. "But the hike is caused by the Central government's inaction, corruption and inepititude," he said.

He said that if BJP was voted to power, Delhi would create a model on food security known as the 'Delhi Model' as Nobel laureate Amartya Sen said that 'government's prime duty is to provide affordable food to the people.'
