The blocking of the television in the Lok Sabha while the controversial Telanagan Bill was being passed in the Lower House of the Parliament led to a massive uproar in India's political circles. Principal opposition party BJP said it was not informed about the blackout and termed it a tactical move and not a technical glitch as Speaker Meira Kumar and Lok Sabha TV CEO had said.

MPs of parties like the JD(U) and Trinamool Congress staged a walkout to protest the way the southern state of Andhra Pradesh was bifurcated into Telangana and Semandhra.
Representatives of the ruling coalition, however, termed the incident a historic one and said they were committed to make the long-pending dream of Telangana a truth.
