Arvind jailed: After elections, AAP mellows down, sticks to 'silent' protests
The party kept the city active during Lok Sabha elections with their road shows and dharnas. and unlike the scenes witnessed in those days of elections, it was complete calm at district headquarters when scores of party activists sat on silent protest.
The protest was against Kejriwal being denied furnishing bail bond in a Delhi court in the case filed against him by BJP's former president Nitin Gadkari, and he was sent to Tihar Jail in Delhi on Wednesday.
The AAP had already given the call for this protest here on Wednesday evening. During elections when Kejriwal camped here the AAP had succeeded in showing a good support base while the results of Varanasi constituency also proved how the anti-BJP votes especially of minority stood behind him.
Due to the same reasons it was considered that the AAP can stage a grand show in the name of silent protest.
