Amit Shah likely to be named the next BJP President
The post currently occupied by Home Minister Rajnath Singh is likely to be taken up by Amit Shah after the RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat met leaders on Wednesday to discuss the issue.
Apart from Shah others who are in the race for the party president post include Jagat Prakash Nadda, P Muralidhar Rao and Om Mathur.
Shah's name for the post started doing the rounds after the party witnessed a massive win in the Lok Sabha elections recently. It is said that Shah, who was given the charge of Uttar Pradesh, worked extensively during the elections to ensure that a majority of seats from the state go to BJP.
He is also often given credit for Modi's win as the CM in Gujarat for three successive elections.
However the date for the announcement for the party president has not been finalised yet.
