Congress hit out at Modi, BJP
New Delhi, Oct 31: Taking the fight over Patel's legacy to a new level, Congress, on Thursday, hit out at BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi saying that Gujarat still didn't have a fully functional human rights commission.

Party spokesperson Ajay Maken addressed reporters here and said that "BJP must live by Sardar Patel's ideals if they want to claim a stake in the Patel legacy."

Lashing out at Narendra Modi, Maken claimed that a journalist was being threatened by the RSS for writing a critical article on Sardar Patel. "Media will lose its freedom of expression if Modi comes to power," he said.

Maken: Is this the kind of politics they want to take forward

Maken added that the journalist filed a complaint saying that she was getting threatning calls from the RSS. Is this the kind of politics that they want to take forward, he then questioned the BJP.

Maken also said that Modi, being the PM candidate, should watch the language that he uses.

Maken clarified that he was calling the press conference in response to what they have done to a woman journalist who wrote that article.

He went on to add that it was the BJP that indulged in votebank politics and not the Congress.
