Will pass Jan Lokpal Bill by February, assures Kejriwal

New Delhi, Jan 10: Ever since AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal took on to the role as the Delhi Chief Minister, his hands have been full as he has been fulfilling the promises that he made during the assembly elections. Next on his platter is the national membership drive that kicks off today.

1:21 pm: Anyone can become an AAP member: Kejriwal

Kejriwal says anyone from the country can become an AAP member. The target is to rope in one crore members by January 26, he said."We will look at the credentials of the person before giving them any leadership role in the party," Kejriwal said.

Many prominent faces have lined up for the party membership, the latest being a top TV journalist, Ashutosh. Kejriwal confirmed that activist Medha Patkar will also join the party soon.

Speaking about the Jan Lokpal Bill, he said that the party was committed to passing the Jan Lokpal Bill at the Ramlila Grounds and will do so by February.

1:15 pm: Kejriwal's news conference begins

Arvind Kejriwal's news conference began in Delhi. The party's national membership drive is going on in various cities. With new members, the party is aiming at Lok Sabha polls set to be held this April.

12.15 pm: BJP protests against AAP government

The Delhi BJP today protested against the AAP government at Rajghat sporting saffron caps. "We aren't copying anybody by wearing these caps, this is a symbol of our struggle," Delhi BJP chief Vijay Goel said.

11.45 am: Arvind Kejriwal refuses Z+ security

Sticking to his word, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal today refused to accept UP government's offer of Z+ security saying that there was no threat to his life.

11. 00 am: AAP's membership drive today

The Aam AAdmi Party (AAP) is all set to kick off its membership drive today. The party will begin its national campaign today with the membership drive starting today. The party is expecting a huge response from the public. According to reports, membership for the AAP has gone up after the Delhi assembly elections.
