However netizens and several politicians criticised her including Shiv Sena that said 'it was not the right time to click selfies.' The BJP ally in the state said: "It is unfortunate that a minister went and clicked selfies in drought-hit Latur."
Several accused her of being insensitive to the plight of the people who are currently suffering from a drought situation in the region.
Congress too criticised Munde and said: "The BJP as a whole is a selfie and optics party. This is like making a mockery of the drought."
Munde is the guardian minister for Latur and Beed regions that are currently reeling under severe drought conditions. She cliked pictures with a parched riverbad in the backdrop and posted the same on social media.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra Minister Eknath Khadse defended Munde's actions and said selfie is not a big thing.
