According to reports, the Mumbai police suspects that atleast six to seven rapes that took place in the mill compound that started six months back and say that it all began with one of the six accused, in the Mumbai gangrape, lured his girlfriend in the deserted mill, where she was gangraped.
After they got away, the accused used different methods to lure girls into the compound.
The police say that they suspect atleast six to seven girls, who were targeted since then. However they seem to have hit a road block they have not been able to track down other victims.
The police say that the juvenile arrested in the second gangrape case, in which a 19-year-old was sexually abused, had lured his girlfriend in to the compound, where she was gangraped. "We suspect this was the first time that they worked as a gang," the officials said.
On asking whether they have been able to track other victims, the police said that it was difficult to do that since their pictures were not there on the phone. "Unless someone comes out and files a complaint like the 19-year-old girl did, it would be difficult to trace them," the official said.
The police said that once the accused got away the first time, they used to target sweepers and rag pickers and would gangrape them. "The mill had become a den for such activities by the time the photojournalist went there for her assignment," he added.
As of now the accused are remanded to judicial custody till Septermber 19.
