Massive explosion in chemical factory in Maharashtra; 3 dead, several injured
Mumbai, May 26: Three persons were feared dead while 50 were injured in a massive explosion which happened in a boiler room of the Acharya Chemicals factory in MIDC area in Dombivali (East).
Joint Commissioner of Thane Police Ashutosh Dumbare confirmed the tragedy and said fire tenders, water tankers and ambulances were at the spot.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said he spoke to the police and local authorities to speed up rescue operations. He also regreted that such an "unfortunate and tragic" incident had occurred.

The impact of the blast was so huge that winow panes of the buildings and establishments located as far as two kilometres were smashed.
Fire was raging inside the factory at the time of writing this report. The injured workers, four of whom were in serious condition, were admitted to a local hospital in Dombivali.
