Maha toll booth violence: 25 detained
Mumbai, Jan 28: The Mumbai Police on Tuesday detained 25 workers of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) for vandalising a toll booth on the Bandra-Worli sea link. On Monday, party MLA Pravin Darekar and 71 other supporters of the MNS were arrested for vandalising a toll booth in Dahisar. The arrests were made on charges of arson, rioting and damaging public property.

Thackeray asked his supporters not to pay fee at the toll plazas and if required, beat up people if fees were charged.

Earlier, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar warned to take strong action against the MNS workers for vandalising toll booths across the state. The state police chief also said that they were examining whether action could be taken against the MNS chief, NDTV reported.

Toll plazas were ransacked in various parts of the state on Nashik, Marathwada, Dahisar, Kalyan and Pune over the last two days.

State Congress chief Manikrao Thakre condemned the incidents and said he had raised the matter with Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan.
