According to a report in TOI (read here) Captain Tamil R Selvan, the only Tamil MLA in the Maharashtra Assembly, is happy after tasting success in the recent assembly elections. Selvan who won from Sion Koliwada on BJP's ticket had never imagined that he would be a politician one day.
On winning the elections, Selvan said that the voters had now become aware and the only way to please them would be by working hard. "As a corporator in the last two years, people saw my work and believed I deserved a chance as an MLA," said the first-time MLA.
Selvan defeated Shetty, who has won the assembly polls for two years in a row.
From doing odd jobs to being a central government contractor to a politician, Selvan has come a long way. It is said that his constituency, mainly Tamil-dominated, voted for him during the assembly polls.
