In pics: Maharashtra, Haryana go to polls

Mumbai, Oct 15: Maharashtra and Haryana went to the assembly elections on Wednesday. While 288 seats in Maharastra went to the polls, 90 seats in Haryana witnessed the polling. The voter turnout was not very high till the last reports came in but both states were looking to an interesting contest. In Maharashtra, both the contesting alliances broke ahead of the elections owing to disagreement on seat-sharing. While the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance crumbled, the Congress and Nationalist Congress Party also parted ways in Maharashtra.

In Haryana too, the Haryana Janhit Congress decided to end the alliance with the BJP a few months ahead of the polls.

The results in both the states will be declared on October 19.
