Hooch tragedy: Police work with wives, widows to nab culprits
Mumbai, June 22: The Mumbai hooch tragedy that claimed close to 100 lives has brought over 100 housewives to join forces with Zone XI of the police department. Their motive- to nab those involved in the sale of this illicit liquor.
According to a report in NDTV, women are now joining hands with the police department and are providing information about the sale of the dangerous liquor. Many of these women are widows who lost their husbands to the toxic liquor.
Police officials say that these women have helped them to carry out as many as 36 raids in the past few days.
Officials said that the team has only women sicne they have the exact information about where their husbands drink daily.
This comes after the recent Mumbai hooch tragedy where the death toll neared 100 on Monday.
The victims had consumed the cheap country liquor at a bar in Rathodi village here on Wednesday night and most of them belonged to Laxmi nagar slums.
