A daughter's bone-chilling letter: “My father raped me and my mother did not help”

Mumbai, July 22: In a shocking incident, a 13-year-old girl was being repeatedly raped by her father from last six years. She revealed the horrific ordeal to her teacher recently, after attending a counselling session on child sexual abuse in her school.

As per a report published in Mid Day, the Class 7 student mustered the courage to pen down a letter to her school teacher, revealing the dirty acts of her father and how her mother chose to remained tight-lipped over the entire incident.

Shockingly, the girl has written that her mother had witnessed the sexual assaults committed by her father upon her.

Her bone-chilling letter read, "My father raped me and my mother is not helping."

The aghast teacher, who read the letter, immediately approached an NGO in Vashi, to help the distressed child.

Vashi police station filed an FIR against the pervert parents on Monday, July 20 night.

My mother gave me pills, says girl

In her police statement, the victim was quoted saying as, "My father raped me in front of my mother. After this, my mother would then offer me some pills. He has been raping me since I was seven years old. Despite complaining to my mother, she refused to help me."

She further said, "Whenever my brothers weren't at home, my father would take advantage of the opportunity and rape me inside my house, in front of my mother. I had complained to my mother several times, but she never helped me."

The accused father is a 45-year-old fruit vendor. The couple has five children. The victim is the third of her siblings and has an elder sister, elder brother and two younger brothers.

Man also sexually assaulted elder sister

The girl also confided her ordeal to her 17-year-old sister. The dastardly act was committed when other children were out of the house.

She also revealed that her father had also sexually assaulted her elder sister and that's why she does not live with them.

She also said that when she told the horrific act of her father to her neighbours, they told her to approach police, on her own, while distancing themselves from the issue.

Mother denies allegations

Meanwhile, girl's mother denied allegations levelled by her daughter. She told police that she came to know about the incident only fifteen days ago, after which she scolded her husband and warned him to stay away from her.

Girl's parents have been booked under Section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code, along with Section 5(L)(N) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012.

Accused father arrested

On the basis of the girl's complaint, the police has arrested the accused father. He was produced in Thane court on Tuesday, July 21 and has been remanded to police custody till Thursday, July 23.

Police suspects that her mother might have given her contraceptive pills to avoid pregnancy. The girl has now taken refuge in an NGO.
