According to TOI report, the locals of Mathura have put up Hema's "missing" posters all over the city, burnt her effigy and even took out her 'funeral procession' to protest against her absence.
One of the protester was quoted as saying that "the Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani is better than Hema Malini, who despite losing contest from Amethi, visits there at least a month."
After winning the Lok Sabha polls, Hema reportedly visited Mathura in the second of June, that too, only for a day.
Another protester alleged that Hema Malini is yet to assume charge and start her duties as an MP while PM Narendra Modi had started his work, next day after winning the polls.
Even Local BJP workers in Mathura have no idea when their MP will visit Mathura next.
The people of Mathura had put their faith and trust in the Bollywood actress Hemam Malini and had won her by more than 3 lakh votes margin by defeating RLD leader Ajit Singh's son Jayant Chaudhary.
Now, it is Hema Malini's turn to fulfill the promises made by her during election campaigns and to serve her constituency people as the elected MP.
Soon after becoming the BJP MP from Mathura, Hema Malini had said, "Mathura has immense tourist potential. Efforts would be made to tap it and make Mathura a tourist hub."
"I have been associated with Mathura for almost 20 years. Whenever I come to Delhi, I always go to Mathura and Varanasi. There are many things to be done in Mathura, and cleanliness is another issue I would like to address", she had earlier said.
"The change in Mathura would be visible after a year. Efforts would be made to connect Mathura with other pilgrim centres and places of tourist interest by air," she had said.
She had also said that cleanliness and revival of the Brij area and better connectivity were her main objectives.
