Uttarakhand Governor takes up additional charge of UP

Lucknow, June 23: Uttrakhand Governor Aziz Qureshi was on Monday administered oath of office as the Governor of Uttar Pradesh following the resignation of B L Joshi.

Qureshi has been given additional charge of UP.

Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court, Dhananjaya Y Chandrachud administered the oath to Qureshi at a function organised at Raj Bhawan here this evening.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, former chief minister N D Tiwari, several ministers, MLAs, senior bureaucrats and police officers were present on the occasion.

Earlier in the day, outgoing Governor Joshi, who had resigned last week, was given a warm send-off at Raj Bhawan.
